EVALUATION
I began this project by choosing my text. I chose the text 'Courage and the Power of Art' because I was really inspired by the story of the father in the text. I wanted to illustrate the life of this man through the perspective of the daughter recounting her fathers stories. I began by mindmapping the parts of the text I wanted to focus on and then researched in depth and experimented with ideas and illustrations for each part of the text. I wanted to capture the parts of this mans life accurately so I researched each part in depth from multiple sources and gathered all into one page in my sketchbook so I could continuously look back and keep my illustrations accurate. I experimented with a wide variety of mediums and subject matter so that when it came to the outcomes I had a clear plan of what I wanted to use to create my work. I experimented with watercolour, gouache, pen, markers and pencil.

After all my experimentation I decided on an outcome that I thought would be most fitting for this text. I chose to create a large zine with 8 different scenes depicting the love between father and daughter told through the story of the father's life in snapshot moments. I planned out all of my scenes and what mediums I was going to use for each.

I then began my final zine. I had to buy a very large piece of paper for this because I wanted each page to be A3. I then folded the piece of paper into the 8 pages. I started with the most important pages that I wanted to illustrate, I worried about not having the time to complete the full 8 scenes so I started with the most important pages in my opinion. I used markers, charcoal, coloured pencil, gouache and watercolour to complete the pages and spent around 5 hours on each page. I didn't manage to finish all 8 scenes due to the time restrictions however I did complete 5 A3 pages including the front cover.

I really enjoyed this project and the opportunity to work from a piece of text as I have never had this experience before. I am very pleased with all I achieved and how I conducted my experimentation and the final outcomes because I worked in a much more methodical and organised way then I did in the previous project. If I was, however, to do this project again I would of planned to do a little bit less work or maybe at a smaller scale because I think I gave myself way to much to do in the allocated time.
